He also retired from DuPont where he worked for 41 years. Mr. Brock was a member of the Military Officers Association, the National Guard Association of South Carolina, and the American Legion.

Mr. DesChamps died at his home April 8, 2009.

Born August 29, 1917, in Bishopville, he was the son of the late William Green and Etta Hearon DesChamps. He was a graduate of Clemson Agricultural and Mechanical College with a BS degree in 1938. Upon graduation from Clemson, he enlisted in the United States Army, 47th Field Artillery. He married to the late Elizabeth Noble Duvall on March 8, 1944, and they were married for 60 years until her death in March 2004. He was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church and served it faithfully his entire life.

William Green's professional career consisted of being owner and president of Bishopville Petroleum Quick Mart of Bishopville, president of Bishopville Cotton and Gin and past president of the SC Oil Jobbers Association from 1957-1959. Affectionately called "Mr. Willie Green," Mr. DesChamps found no greater joy than helping others and being a true friend to all. He was a former Mayor of Bishopville, South Carolina State Senator, and member of the South Carolina House of Representatives.

In 1975.1 he was appointed to the Clemson University Board of Trustees and loyally served as a board member and Trustee Emeritus until his death. Clemson University also honored him with the Alumni Distinguished Service Award and the Clemson Medallion, the highest recognition bestowed by the University. He was past president of the Clemson IPTAY Club and a member of the IPTAY Board of Directors. His love devotion to Clemson University and the Clemson Tigers was and his lifelong commitment and pledge. He is survived by a daughter, Ruth Kinsey DesChamps of Pawleys Island; two sons, William Green DesChamps, III and Carroll Green DesChamps, II and his wife Cindy, all of Bishopville; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Moore Winesett, Julia Duvall DesChamps, and William Green DesChamps, IV; and three greatgrandchildren, Joe, Green, and Lily Winesett.

Mr. Gibson was born November 11, 1922, in Lexington, SC, and passed away Monday, April 6, 2009. He was a son of the late Murray S. Gibson Sr. and Annie Byrd Gibson.

He was a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Men in Mission. He was also a member of American Legion Post 7, Order of the Eastern Star Lexington Masonic Lodge Jamil Temple and Scottish Rites. He grew up in West Columbia, SC, and was a 1940 graduate of B.C. High School.

He was activated in June 1941 and was a veteran of World War II. He served in Company A of the 751st Tank Battalion in campaigns in Italy and North Africa. He continued his military service in the S.C. National Guard and achieved the rank of command sergeant major. He retired from the Combined Support Maintenance Shop and the National Guard in November 1982 with 36 years of service.

Mr. Gibson is survived by his wife, Maklone Swygert Gibson; daughters, Sheila (Johnny) Whitehead, Ginger Snelgrove and son-inlaw, Roscoe Caughman, nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Linda Anne Caughman; sister, Margaret G. Swygert and brother, Homer Paul Gibson. He was affectionately known as "Poppee" by his seven grandchildren, Suzanne Cordell (Brad), Jennifer McInnis (Courtney), Kyle Snelgrove (Heather), Kimberly Bannister (Brett), Jonathan Whitehead (Monica), Amanda Crumpton (Shane) and Laura Whitehead.

"K.P." Hicks Jr. ROSWELL, Ga. Keith P. "K.P." Hicks, 86, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at his residence in Roswell, Georgia. Born December 29, 1922, he was raised in the Lamar, South Carolina, area.

He was the son of the late Keith P. Hicks, Sr. and the late Gertrude Sanders Hicks. He fought in the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant for the 36th Field Artillery Brigade in the North African Theater during WWII.

He later served in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a captain after 20 years of military service. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner for over 50 years. After military service Mr. Hicks settled in Fairfax, Virginia, where he and family spent the next 47 years.

He served as chief deputy of the Fairfax County Sheriffs Office for 15 years. He later had various business interests including real estate investments and a cattle farm, and he raised world champion Blue Tick hounds. He was a dedicated lifelong active member of the GOP where he donated his time and money to many local and national campaigns. He was past commander of the Fairfax VFW and was a member of Fairfax Presbyterian Church for over 40 years. He relocated to Roswell, Georgia, to be closer to his children.

He was the loving husband of 67 years to his late wife, Elsie Windham Hicks of Roswell, Georgia. He was the proud father of three children: Dolores Hicks La Cross of Lamar, South Carolina, Keith P. (Veronica) Hicks, III of Atlanta, Georgia, and Sherea Hicks (Harmon) Greenway of Roswell, Georgia. He was the grandfather of 5 grandchildren: Randy (Pam) La Cross, Corey (Michell) Cross, Craig La Cross, Jason (Alice) Hicks, Shannon (Jason) Garrett and 7 great-grandchildren. He was an avid reader.

He enjoyed gardening, and with a "green thumb" everything he planted grew beautifully. He loved Redskin football and did not miss a home game for 25 years. Mr. Hicks was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Christine Hicks and Annie Laurie Hicks, brothers, Theo Hicks, Willard Hicks, and Troy Hicks, and a son-in-law, Martin J. La Cross.

He is survived by a brother, Leland C. (Ruth) Hicks three sisters, Blostine Thomas, Jewell (Roland) Bernard, Patricia (Dow) Player, and several nieces and nephews. Jace Holloman COLUMBIA Jace Holloman, 52, died suddenly Monday, April 6, 2009, at his home in Columbia. He had a generous spirit with a keen sense of humor and a deep love for people, the outdoors and the culinary arts. Mr. Holloman had worked mainly as a freelance photographer since moving to South Carolina in 2000. His photographs have appeared in various publications, including on Religion News Service wire, Sandlapper Magazine, The Houston Chronicle, the Lexington County Chronicle and Dispatch News, the Newark, N.J., Ledger-Star and the American School Board Journal.

He also had done photography for the Jordan Board of Tourism. Mr. Holloman previously worked in various positions in the petrochemical industry along the Texas Gulf Coast. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the United States and in Germany.

Born in Gary, he grew up in Indiana and Kentucky. He graduated from Crittenden County High School in Marion, and moved to Texas while serving in the army. He attended college in Texas, studying psychology and computer science. He is survived by his wife, Cecile S. Holmes of Columbia; three sisters, Paulette Johnston of Hawesville, Paula Miniard and Charity Gray, both of Marion, three brothers, Tom Holloman of Marion, Paul Jr.

and Tim Holloman, both of Eddyville, mother-in-law, Arlene Masem Holmes of Columbia; brother-in-law, Jim Holmes of Woodland Hills, sisters-in-law, Anne K. Holmes of Columbia, and Laura Masem of Columbia; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Ray and Margaret Ann Gillespie Holloman; and one sister, Elanore Holloman. Snell Jones, 70, of 4033 Rosewood Drive, will be held 2:00 Thursday at John Ford Middle p.m. School Auditorium with interment to follow in Providence A.ME. Church Cemetery. Mrs. Jones will be placed in the church at 1:00 p.m.

Services have been entrusted to J.P. Holley Funeral Home. Mrs. Jones died Friday; she was born in Calhoun County. She was the daughter of the late Ethone, Sr.

and Desdia Cheesboro Snell. She is survived by her son, James R.
